Hand-crafted barrels, made from the very best white oak, play an important part in the whiskey aging process. The inside of each barrel is toasted and charred to caramelize the wood's natural sugars. The whiskey is placed inside barrels where it begins to develop its character, flavor and finish. As seasons change, whiskey is drawn in and out of the wood. Barrels are emptied at maturity, and a portion of whiskey remains inside the wood.

Whiskey Barrel Charcoal Briquets & Smoker Blocks are made from Jack Daniel's white oak barrels. The Charcoal Briquets feature visible barrel pieces while the Smoker Blocks are cut directly from the whiskey-saturated barrel staves. This unique product captures a pleasant mix of caramel, vanilla and wood notes and will impart an extraordinary smoked flavor to all your grilled foods.

Step 1:
Open grill vents. Arrange briquets and smoker blocks into a pile in the center of the grill. Apply lighter fluid according to manufacturer's instructions. Light in several places. Leave grill uncovered.

Step 2:
Once briquets and smoker blocks are ignited and flaming, let them burn keeping lid and vents open. As flames die down, briquets will begin to ash (turn gray). Smoker blocks will char and not ash like briquets.

Step 3:
When briquets are covered in ash and smoking has started, spread coals and begin cooking. Close lid to prevent flare ups and adjust vents for temperature control.
